Typing Afrikaans on your keyboard

Afrikaans is written on an ordinary English keyboard, so every accented letter comes from the US-International dead keys: circumflex then e gives ê for sê and wêreld, the quote key then e gives ë for reën and seën. Sixteen accented vowel forms are in regular use, and the deelteken carries real meaning. it splits vowels that would otherwise merge. Note that the indefinite article is typed as an apostrophe plus n, never the deprecated single character ʼn.
