Typing German on your keyboard
German QWERTZ has ä ö ü and ß on their own keys, and the capitals Ä Ö Ü come with Shift, so nothing is missing for everyday writing. The one real gap is the capital ẞ, official since 2017: it needs AltGr+Shift+ß, Alt+7838 or 1E9E followed by Alt+X. The Swiss layout has no ß at all, and anyone on a US or UK keyboard needs the Alt codes and US-International shortcuts listed here.
