Typing Romanian on your keyboard

The Romanian Standard layout gives ă â î ș ț their own keys, while the Programmers layout produces them with AltGr+a, q, i, s and t. The catch is historical: Windows before Vista generated the cedilla forms ş and ţ instead of the comma-below ș and ț that the Romanian Academy requires, so old documents and fonts still mix the two. Copy the comma-below versions from this page, and use the Alt codes or Mac shortcuts when you are on a foreign keyboard.
