Typing Spanish on your keyboard
The Spanish (Spain) QWERTY layout has a dedicated Ñ key, with the acute and diaeresis dead keys right next to it, so á é í ó ú ü take two keystrokes. The Latin American layout works the same way, minus a ç key. On a US or UK keyboard none of that exists, which is why the Alt codes, US-International layout and Mac shortcuts on this site are needed.
